The fig tree is a small spreading tree with a grey bark that produces red flowers in Spring.  It is fast-growing and can be planted as an ornamental tree or shrub and will often attract songbirds.  When grown in the correct conditions it will bear tons of juicy fruit.

Fig trees need to be planted in areas that receive direct sunlight and can be used for indoor or container planting.  It tolerates a wide range of soil types from sandy to loamy to clay soils.

Avoid touching its milky sap followed by exposure to ultraviolet light as this can possibly cause a serious skin inflammation called phytophotodermatitis.

  • Estimated height: 2-5m
  • Estimated width: 7-12m
