Description

A pretty decorative shade tree suitable for medium to large gardens and will attract birds and small wildlife because of its plump tasty fruit.  Its fruit has a tart taste and has been used to make jam and other preserves.  Not only is it an indicator of groundwater, but it is fire resistant too.

Due to its eye-catching bark and stunning dense grey-green foliage, it makes an excellent hedge plant.  It is said to have many medicinal and magical uses and was the Tree of the Year in 2012.  However, this ornamental tree is invasive in Bettys Bay.

  • Tolerates temperatures as low as -2°c
  • Estimated height: 8-15m
  • Estimated width: 2-6m
  • Drought-resistant
  • Excellent wind tolerance
