Description

Its red-coloured leaves in Spring and Autumn make it stand out in any medium to large garden.  Wildlife absolutely loves eating from this tree.  In Mozambique this tree’s timber is thought of as precious and in South Africa, it is protected.

Its wood should not be used as firewood as the sap and smoke from its wood are poisonous.  Its latex is very toxic to humans, but it does have traditional medicinal values.

  • Tolerates temperatures as low as -1°c
  • Estimated height: 7-9m
  • Estimated width: 5-6m
  • Drought-resistant
