Description

A popular ornamental tree for medium to large size gardens.  Its spreading crown of thick, leathery leaves provides the perfect amount of shade.  Night-flying bat pollinators are attracted to the sausage tree as its flowers mostly blossom at night.

Its wood can also be used for lumber, but because it is so soft it is not ideal for construction purposes.  Good wind tolerance and excellent medicinal values.

  • Young trees need to be protected from frost
  • Tolerates temperatures as low as 4°c
  • Estimated height: 18-20m
  • Estimated width: 8-10m
  • Drought-resistant
  • Edible fruit
